The IPDGC offers several types of
competition for the girls in our programs.
Our Girls Compulsory
division competitions are held in an invitational
style, which gives flexibility to teams' competition
schedule. Our competition season begins in September and
concluding traditionally in December with a state
meet.
Our
Tumbling division gives
younger gymnasts the opportunity to practice
routines, and gives them a sample of competitions in
sometimes smaller settings. Our tumblers
compete from October to February, and must be a
minimum of 3 years old.
Our
Optional division, which
is similar in concept to the USA Gymnastics
Level 7, utilizes the Illinois High School
Association rules, with some modifications to
ensure safety for our gymnasts. Gymnasts
are divided into 6 different levels, depending
on skill and ability. They advance at
their own pace based upon their scores at the
competitions. The season begins in
January, and concludes in May with a state meet.
Introduced to the conference in
2003: our Drill
Team division, which
encompasses CHEER squads, DANCE squads, POM
squads, and BATON twirlers (individual or
group). This division is based upon AAU
Cheerleading rules, Bill George Cheerleading
rules, and NBTA rules. We have several
divisions available, based upon squad size and
ability. The Drill Team season runs from
January through April, and concludes with a
state meet.
